SELF is a nonprofit formed by US based alumni of St. Teresa’s Convent. Friskies Fest is an annual event hosted by SELF to celebrate our Alma matar, faculty and staff and the achievements of alumnae and non alumnae. Proceeds from Friskies Fest benefit SELF Projects.

Friskies Fest 2010 will be held in Philadelphia, PA from August 6-8. The selection of Philadelphia as the venue for our 2nd annual Friskies Fest was strategic as it is one of the major historical hubs of our community in the US. Today, the city has a blooming and vibrantly enriched Liberian and African culture as a whole. This year, we present “An Evening of Glamour”, a celebration of the achievements of Liberia’s brightest women leaders.

HONOREES

During Friskies Fest, SELF pays homage to selected faculties/Staff and acknowledges an alumna and a non-alumna for their colossal achievements and contributions to the Liberian community. Recipients are honored with the following awards:

Star of Excellence: This award is given to a former or current faculty/staff in recognition of their outstanding service, demonstrated loyal interest and extraordinary quality of work to St. Theresa’s Convent.

• 2010 Recipient: Mrs. Cynthia Davis

• 2009 Recipient: Mrs. Wede Hodge-Gibson
Former Dean, STC

Distinguished Alumna: This award honors an alumna of St. Teresa’s Convent who has enhanced the school’s prestige by virtue of her character, integrity, and contributions through her outstanding achievements within her profession or community.

• 2010 Recipient: Dr. Grace Ann-Dinkins
1996 and 2000 Olympian and Trauma Surgeon

• 2009 Recipient: Dr. Gjanje Smith

Spirit of Friskies: This award honors a non- alumna, who exemplifies the ideals of SELF with outstanding achievement in their profession. Recipients have also exhibited commitment to service and humanitarian endeavors.
